THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED

I unfortunately missed the first ten minutes of this film, but it didn’t matter too much as it was very easy to follow.  Like “The Ghost Writer”, this film benefits from knowing as little as possible going in, so you can enjoy all of the twists.  The basic story, though, is that two guys kidnap Alice Creed who is the daughter of a very rich man.  She is stripped naked, tied to a bed and photographed.  These photos are then e-mailed to her father along with a ransom note asking for two million dollars.  Alice is then re-dressed and looked after respectedly (well as much as you can when you handcuff and gag a girl to a bed).  From here all the twists and turns begin and it is all down very well (even if it does become a little convoluted by the end).  Still it is a good little thriller that is well acted by all three of the leads, especially Gemma Arteton who plays the titular character, and I whole-heartedly recommend it.
